Next week you'll have an opportunity to be part of two great conversations.
First up, on Tuesday Oct. 16th Apricot Irving will be here at the Book Shop in conversation with Lavinia Spalding.
Irving's book The Gospel of Trees documents her childhood as a missionary's daughter in Haiti and her emergence into womanhood made all the more complicated by Christianity's demands.
Then on Thursday Oct. 18th we will host Kiese Laymon in conversation with Maurice Carlos Ruffin to celebrate Laymon's memoir, Heavy.
In Heavy, Laymon writes eloquently and honestly about growing up a hard-headed black son to a complicated and brilliant black mother in Jackson, Mississippi.
Of course if you can't make it to one of our events but would still like a signed copy of the book just give us a call 504-895-2266. We will have a books signed for you at the event and we ship worldwide.
